What is Pain Management?
Pain management is a newly emerging specialty that blends multiple treatment methods to reduce or relieve chronic pain and suffering. A thorough clinical and radiological evaluation will allow Dr. Ycaza to diagnose a variety of conditions and devise the most appropriate treatment plan. Such interventions include selective nerve blocks, epidural injections through the entire spine, radiofrequency treatments, spinal cord stimulators, among other complex nerve blocks.
What types of pain can be helped?
Pain that persists for more than three to six months is considered chronic. We treat a wide variety of pain syndromes.
Some of the most frequently treated conditions include:
- Chronic back pain with or without radiating pain to the arms and legs
- Failed back syndrome
- Spinal stenosis
- Myofascial syndrome
- Facet pain
- Cervical neck pain
- Sacroilitis (hip pain)
- Coccydynia (tailbone pain)
- Peripheral neuralgias
- Post herpetic neuralgia (shingles pain)
- Complex regional pain syndrome (formerly known as reflex sympathetic dystrophy)
- Intercostal neuralgia (rib pain)
- Occipital neuralgia (back of the head pain)
- Unrelieved cancer pain
Is pain management therapy covered by insurance?
Most pain management procedures performed are covered by insurance. However, some insurance plans require pre-certification before treatment is done.
